The pros of using a SBF over a SBC. The Ford is lighter because it is smaller overall. Shorter deck height means a narrower engine. And less engine height. Not a lot but every little bit helps. The pros of using a SBC. Greater parts interchangeablity. One bolt pattern on the bell housing to engine and transmission to bell housing.

@michaelreilly1310esq Extra weight? The 302 with thin wall casting technology probably weighs the same or less than that ancient cast iron six with non crossflow heads. With aluminum heads, intake and short heads it for sure does. Replace the original transmission w/overdrive with a T5 that's more weight savings. And you do not need a heavily modified 302. Plus this likely has better brakes (1). Better tires. Better shocks. Improved cooling. Not sure how much power the stock rear end could handle. As to the frame box any sections that are not boxed but only U shaped sections. I'm not sure l would want to drive it in the rain. It a car like this isn't meant as daily transportation. If rain is in the forecast leave it parked 1) Bigger brakes only increase stopping power to a point. If you don't have enough contact surface the bigger brakes will only lock up the wheels that !much faster.

Those Awesome Cobra valve covers must add like a whole Zero horses. Look nice though. A 289 or 302 with alluminum heads, intake and shorty headers weighs less than the stock 2.5 liter cast iron inline six. If it has a T5 tranny that cuts more weight.
