I wanted to become an architect but found l had a major problem with math. I just could not catch on to calculus. But then when introduced to Algebra l had lots of trouble with it. Until l explained to the instructor that a,b and c. X,y and z didn't mean anything to me. Then she plugged in values and the light went on. Regarding calculus. I have had others say they had a lot of trouble with it. It seems to be primarily an issue of the instructor than the subject matter.

I'd rather they look like classic furniture. Than flatpak IKEA crap. If they have to look like furniture at all.

Myself if suburbs or new residential areas must be built l would prefer to see the front of housing (single, duplex and up to quadplex) face a pedestrian/cycling oriented single lane one way "street". Tree lined of course. (1) Enough to accommodate emergency vehicles. But with cars banned. With alleys on the back side of the lots. With the alleys also being one way and slightly wider. No housing facing the cross streets. Which are also one way. Every 6 or 8 blocks have short sections of cross streets reserved for multiuse buildings for small businesses. All neighborhoods centered around a park and elementary school. Every 16 blocks have a main arterial avenue with a secondary arterial in between. "Express" transit (trolleys, busses or trams") runs on main arterial avenues. These stop at cross streets with comercial use. Secondary avenues with transit stop at more regular stops. And all streets and avenues are numbered. All too often with naming streets their are outliers. An example would streets named for trees with a state name or president mixed in.

IMO Wright designed some truely beautiful buildings. Homes, houses of worship, etc. But in my opinion he was hamstrung by the materials available at the time. Plus you could not pay me to live in one of his designs. A normal American home takes enough work to maintain on the inside. A FLW home you would need staff. But then he was not designing for the average home buyer. Post war l personally think he should have focused on designing quality homes designed for the emerging market of the time. Homes designed around using factory produced elements such as walls that could be combined on site.

When l was a kid we played a variation of baseball that consisted of a pitcher, one batter and one or two outfielders. Usually using tennis or rubber balls. The backstop was a school's outside wall. Lots of balls ended up on the roofs. And could you throw a wicked curve ball.

Arguements against flat roofs 1) Leaks if water can settle against perimeter walls. 2) Snow build up and having no where to go. In the wrong climate can lead to structural issues. 3) Esthetic reasons. This is mainly a residential and climate reason. Arguements for flat roofs. 1) Cost of construction. 2) The mounting of air handling machinery and electrical equipment. The second is more an industrial issue. 3) Use of roofspace for social reasons. This can also be accomplished by means of a deck over a sloping roof. In reality in any climate with significant percipitation no builds truely flat roofs.
