Heating systems for homes in the US vary by region to a large degree. Using natural gas in many areas is often the most economical means of getting the needed BTUs. Just how that heat is delivered can be forced air, radiant floor or baseboard radiators. The old cast iron radiators aren't used to much in new construction due to cost. In some areas electric baseboard is used but that will only be in those areas with cheap electricity. In the Northeast many homes still use oil. Generally I think today's homes built in the US are built as cheaply as possible.
