There had to have been some water based commerce between Mesoamerica and South America. The Darian Swamp almost makes it a given.

Probably the most important food of the Columbian Exchange.

Number one? I highly doubt that. Most common after cheese and sausage is probably onions. But in actuality the most common is tomato sauce of some type.

Does it? No. But maybe I'm a purist. Cheese, sausage, onions and green peppers. Maybe pepperoni. Maybe black olives. No spam. No pineapple. And definitely no freaking anchovies.

The world owes so much to to early Mesoamerican and South American farmers. Squash (winter and summer), Maize, Tomatoes, Peppers, Avocados, Sweet Potato or Yams*, Pineapple, Turkeys and other crops that have enlivened the cuisines of other cultures world wide. *there are those pesky debates about their origin and how they spread

I click on this and an add for Mud Water pops up. 😖 One revolution in growing coffee has taken place on Hawaii. One grower instead of raising coffee in the normal shrub system has taken to cultivating it similiar to grapes. Easier to harvest with a better yield iirc

Let's not forget than truely wondrous version of coffee. Coffee Cake.

So I guess that the patrons of the prostitutes of Medieval London were "the Johns of London". One problem with a name ending in 'sen' versus is 'son' is it gets misspelled all the freaking time. Even if you enunciate it to emphasize the last syllable very clearly. Unless you happen to be in say Denmark or possibly Norway.

What's that Broadway show tune in honor of avocado. Ah yes, "How Are Things in Guacamole". 🤪 I find that I like avocado in dishes. Just not on it's own. Something about the texture. Personal taste I guess.

I wonder if as a person aged if they changed occupations (unlikely probably) they became instead of John the Miller John the Farmer. And what about John the Miller's son? Andre the Giant anyone.

I've heard that the potato didn't really gain wide spread acceptance until the 30 Years War. Marauding troops couldn't burn your crop.
