  1. Unfortunately any company needs some bean counters in the system. But if you are working on developing new applications or technologies your development staff is far more important. In my opinion any technology company that employs more non technology staff than it's engineers, chemists, physicists and production staff is a non technology PR company.

  2. Renewables, as clean as they can be (1) still have environmental costs. Anyone who doesn't recognize that is an idiot in my opinion. That said what costs are we willing to bear as a society. The costs of course are land use, any mining required for necessary minerals, manufacturing facilities, transmission lines etc. Of course some of these environmental costs are minor compared to some things we are doing today. As Iron Air batteries one big use l can see for them is units sized to support anything from single family homes to multiunit appartment buildings. A better option in my opinion than backup generators. If l were making the financial decisions we would be putting more money into renewable technologies as well as putting a lot more money into fusion research. Eventually fusion will come online. And when it does renewables may well become old fashioned. 1) Even the cleanest renewable etill is going to generate waste heat.
