As trick as the Werder is that doesnt make sense to me. The only thing that would have made the action even slicker* is to have just one trigger that would drop the hammer at one stage and then open the breech and eject the shell when pulled farther back. *And the Werder is about as slick as a single action gets

  2. I knew about the rifles but the pistol. I would think the artillery would want a little more fire power than this if enemy infantry or cavalry show up. The only real change the system needs is a second stage to the trigger that would drop the block and eject the spent casing. Fire, squeeze the trigger some more and the spent case ejects. That would be even slicker.
