  2. While l seriously doubt these people are doing anything related to actual firearms production turning metal with cutting fluid just brushed on the material will result in "smoke". Flood coolant is of course the better choice. The lathe shown might not even gave coolant. And "gun drilling" is a whole different ball game than drilling with a twist drill. No pun intended. Needs high pressure coolant to flush the chips out and the hole actually acts as the support to keep the gun drill steady.
