A while back I was watching the film "Vera Cruz" here on YouTube and sure enough Gary Cooper and Burt Lancaster are walking around with Colt Single Army pistols and 1873 Winchesters. The movie is set in about 1866.

@MrRobbi373 Yes, I expect Sargent Harper was demanding to know just who nicked his bolley gun made by "John Nock of London".

I'm surprised the Russians don't have warehouses full of flintlocks left over from the Napolionic Wars.

@wayneantoniazzi2706 Richard Widmark was more into the shove the old lady in the wheel chair down the stairs type of thing.

@joemontgomery6658 Film junkies love Eisenstein but I have always found his work pretentious although the Odessa Steps is a redeeming moment

@donjones4719 There was that actor who killed himself in the 1980s by firing a blank loaded pistol against his head. Also I've heard the term "rubber gun squad" used in relation to police officers that were put on administrative duty to keep them off of the streets. And CGI guns are entirely PC.

@donjones4719 There is one thing that any one who is not familiar with firearms in the entertainment industry who us working on a filmor TV production should be for ed to learn is just how dangerous a blank round can be. True there is no bullet involved but there is still an explosion. Plus film and TV production companies have long had prop men who where responsible for any firearms being used.
