  1. This was shades of Candidate Obama from 2008. Too bad there was a stark difference between Candidate Obama and President Obama. He ran as a reformer but governed as a functionalist, and by the end of his second term, he was effectively a moderate Republican. Those aren't my words, that is how Obama described himself. Never forget that Obama throwing his weight behind Clinton in 2016 and behind Biden in 2020 is the reason Bernie lost.

  2. Platitudes are one thing. Policy is another, and that's all I care about. I judge Obama by what he did, not what he said, because any politician can make promises.

  3.  @ivanolivas22  The ACA was Romneycare. It was a Republican healthcare plan intended to meet them in the middle. Obama purposely took out the public option to appease the Republicans, despite having campaigned on it, and despite having supported universal healthcare in 2006. Obama ran as the next FDR but governed as the next Reagan. By the end of Obama's presidency, he described his policies as "moderate Republican" and I can't say I disagree.
