  1. I would still rank James Buchanan as the worst, because he was most directly responsible for the US Civil War. He succeeded where Trump tried and failed. I would also rank Reagan and Bush Jr. as equal to or worse than Trump, given that their policies paved the way for Trump.

Lincoln does deserve to be criticized for his expansionist policies against indigenous peoples, and how he only took action against slavery due to its economic impact, not out of any moral stance against it. The president most directly responsible for the US Civil War was James Buchanan, who I would still rank as the worst. He accomplished what Trump only attempted.
