@nestorpoetus781 That does not happen. Trans patients face medical hurdles and gatekeeping, and often end up waiting years just to be seen by a doctor for the first time. Even in countries with universal healthcare, they can end up waiting an average of four years. No other medical procedure forces patients to jump through as many hoops. Nor is there any risk of cisgender patients mistakenly receiving trans related treatments, as this would cause gender dysphoria in anyone who isn't actually trans. Once again, the truth is the exact opposite of what conservatives claim.

@whatthepick You are making that up. Every major medical organization and the vast majority of studies have concluded that gender affirming care leads to the best long term health outcomes for trans patients. Puberty blockers are a type of gonadotropin releasing hormone analogs, which as the video explains, have already been widely used to treat precocious puberty in cisgender children. They are also used to treat myriad endocrinological conditions in cisgender adults, like endometriosis, infertility, and reproductive cancers. They are used under close medical supervision on a short term basis, and in trans patients, they are stopped when a patient reaches adulthood and can start HRT. If they are simply stopped, puberty resumes as normal. They are not handed out freely as you claim.

@ChristianMission By that logic, children diagnosed with cancer should have to wait until they're 18 before starting treatment, even though medical experts agree that treatment is lifesaving. Then again, I've heard religious fundamentalists argue for banning cancer treatment as well because, "It goes against God's plan."

@nestorpoetus781 Nice unsourced claims. You made up those statistics, and act like anecdotal evidence overrides the scientific consensus. Your "research" consists of reading transphobic blogs, accounts from bigoted parents who didn't want to accept their children, and detransitioners who were coached by TERFs. This is as disingenuous as treating Oli London as a case study for all trans people. The Tavistock Clinic was closed due to pressure from bigoted parents, and a lawsuit from a detransitioner who was not given the necessary social support earlier in life.

@nestorpoetus781 You want to talk about bad research? The Singh study that TERFs cite was based on outdated diagnostic criteria from the DSM-3 and 4, which conflated gender expression with gender identity, and mistook gender nonconforming children as having gender dysphoria. It then concluded that since none of these kids grew up to be trans, they must have "detransitioned" and therefore it must be due to peer pressure. It further lost track of more than half the individuals in the study, and concluded they detransitioned as well. It also falsely conflated desistance with transition regret, even though there is zero evidence to support this. Better studies, like the 2021 meta analysis by Bustos, the 2023 Jedrzejewski study on GCS patients, or the 2021 Turban study on desistance, found the actual regret rate is very low, typically less than 1%. Of those who had detransitioned, which is not the same as regret, more than 80% cited factors like familial pressure, societal stigma, and losing access to healthcare. When these factors are addressed, most go on to resume their transition. It's also not uncommon for nonbinary patients to transition up to a certain point, then stop. When people have detransitioned voluntarily due to actual gender related reasons, they did not regret the experience, and were grateful for the opportunity to safely explore their identity.
