I've heard Obama supporters describe him as a black messiah, vehemently defend his paid Wall St speeches by playing the race card, and deflect criticism of his neoliberal policies that got us Trump by saying we should focus exclusively on Trump. Even today, any Democrat who criticizes Obama in the least is committing political suicide. Bernie was smeared simply for alluding to the fact that Obama left the Democratic Party weaker and that 1,000 seats were lost under him.
