  1. I've driven Canberra to Melbourne and return three times in the last 12 months in my ICE Subaru Outback. On 4 out of the 6 trips I've stopped for marooned EV drivers on the side of the road, who have either lost their battle with range anxiety or shredded a tyre and the useless puncture repair kit wasn't up to it (no room for a emergency wheel, let alone a real spare).

  4.  @gerbre1  That's great for Germany or the US. It doesn't really help in the 700km drive between Canberra and Melbourne.

  5.  @gerbre1  Sure except motor vehicles are what about 7% of our CO2 emissions. Could make bigger / better savings elsewhere.
