  1. Tanks in general great (I wear a black beret too). However a Sqn, or whatever is planned to be sent, is unlikely to make an impact in a space the size of the Ukraine. An armoured Division maybe.

  2.  @peterfalk7084  Its not just fuel. Challenger 2 uses 3 piece ammunition designed for a rifled gun. Leo 2 uses 1 piece ammunition designed for a smooth bore gun. Both of which are 120mm. The Ex Soviet armour that Ukraine currently uses, takes 125mm, two piece ammunition. All tank ammunition is not interchangeable. No point getting there if you have nothing to shoot.

  4.  @matthewmorgan6814  Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Iraq. I'd suggest the engagements in the first three weren't overly taxing against pretty old equipment and Iraq wasn't much better. Export T-72 doesn't equal non export T-90s, supported by current Russian ATGMs. Let alone the issue of first line UK tank crews with pre-deployment training versus Ukrainians with a lot of enthusiasm but rushed training. But anyway keep believing that 1 Squadron of tanks will save a nation of 603,550 km²

  5.  @tasman006  Well I'd suggest CR2 crewed by professionals vs T-55 crewed by conscripts is hardly a fair fight. I don't think I ever said it would not make a good show of itself. But the response I was responding to of 1 Sqn of CR2 would likely destroy 120 Russian vehicles (all of which would be better than T-55s), was highly optimistic.

I'm certainly not trying to say that. one Tank SQN, even if CR2, LEO2A? or M1A? is going to make a difference, sure. Its not going to be some sort of miracle weapon as others are implying.

  7.  @ckm-mkc  The only figure I've seen is between 15 and 30 so another "penny packet". Also the Egyptian ones are M1A1 standard, so not quite "current".
