  1. They aren't "controversial", they are illegal for the people who signed the Treaty to use, just like antipersonnel land mines. Its just that the US never signed up.

  2.  @derf9465  What has that got to do with anything? I've deployed several times and have over 30 years service in uniform - you have how much? Maybe do a quick search on things like the "Law of Armed Conflict" and work out that: 1. There are rules. 2. Service people are required to align with Treaties their Government signs.
