Right so you build a carrier and deploy it but leave its strike component (both rotary and fixed wing) behind??! If you just want a C4I platform almost anything, within reason, could be used.

@davidhouseman4328 Sure, but sending it out without its strike/primary defensive assets? I'm sure the RN has other dedicated C4I platforms that could do the job. I mean when Churchill travelled to visit FDR in 1941 on her predecessor, I suspect they didn't empty the 14" magazines? Sure they wanted to use a big ship to project power/shape/influence, but they didn't markedly reduce its capabilities.
