I think this is just another bit of nonsense repeated in the video, which is full of errors. These are the facts:- #1, Briain was not metric. For civilian equipment they had stardardised on Whitworth and British Association '(BA). However, experience had taught both the American and British military that the differing standards was right pain in the neck, so by agreement prior to WW2 they both standardised on UNified threads - UNC, UNF, UNEF. These threads became universal in the USA after the war, but Briatin being Britain, reverted back to Whitworth and BA after the War.

@Rangefinder02 ; Because this story is fake news. For military equipment, both sides had standardised on unified threads, UNC (coarse thread applications), UNF (fine thread applications), and UNEF (screw - on connectors etc)

@thetruthhurts7675 : No, use of the term Limey is pretty much confined to the US military. Other countries have their own terms, eg Australians call Britishers "Poms". French call them Rosbif, Germans call them Inselaffen (means "island monkeys")

originalforgery: except that his jet was not in the least bit practical. That was why it was rejected. It took the like of Rolls Royce and GE to devise the change needed to make it practical.
