@lazthegreat10 True, but its a myth anyway. There are lots of anechoic rooms - in large manufactu'er's research & testing facilities, most good universities, etc And large grain farms are just as quiet when there is no wind. People find quiet peaceful. Note that the echo suppression in anechoic rooms only works down to wavelengths that are short compared to the wedges. If the wedges are 2 yards long, then sound below about 500 Hz (B above middle C) is not suppressed.

City people will believe all sorts of nonsense. I've worked in fairly remote farming districts. When there is no wind, it is as quite as an anechoic chamber. The land is dead flat and covered in plants eg wheat, so there is no echo or reverb. Your ears do adapt, and you do hear things like your clothing rustling, cars known to be several kilometres away. But its nice and peaceful and doesn't make you feel sick of uncomfortable.
