This 1951 film is surprisingly accurate. It's much better than the ridiculous "Just Say No" campaign run by our State Governments about 30 years ago. In my country, they send policemen to schools to tell the kids to stay clear of drugs. For some reason these cops think it's a good idea to show kids photographs of a pretty girl aged 14 allegedly caught with pot, and the same girl allegedly caught with heroin 6 months later and looking like 40 and very sick. And tell the kids that one dose and you're hooked. Of course the kids know much better than that. They know perfectly well it's usually not a bad as that, because they know of someone who has been doing drugs. They know it's a risk but think "it won't happen to me, I'll stop before it does." It would be better to give kids accurate information, but every time that's proposed, the do-gooders make a fuss and stop it.
