@JD-xd4sy What the strategy has been is to wear Russia down so that Putin eventually concludes it is just too darn expensive, plus keep the war going long enough so that Ukraine can develop its own means of taking the war deep into Russian territory. If troops from third party countries went to Ukraine and fought on Ukraine's side, that could lead to widespread war - and European countries have been careful to not send troops for that reason. Third party countries cannot launch planes or missiles from outside Ukraine as that would certainly lead to world war - so they have not done that. But if Ukraine finds its own ways to attack targets deep within Russia, Russia has no justification to widen the war to outside Ukraine. Just supplying arms, of course, to the weaker side is unlikely to win a war for them. To win a war you have to take the fight to the enemy's territory. This is what Zelensky understands, European leaders understand , almost certainly what Putin understands, and what Trump does not understand.

@TheGuzeinbuick The thing is, Putin won't stop with just the eastern part of Ukraine. Sooner or later he will launch an armed invasion of another territory, in Ukraine or in another Eastern European country. So just letting him have what he has seized is not a good idea. He has to be shown forcibly that if he seizes territory, he just won't be allowed to keep it.

@themagiclamp7208 Ah, but unlike Finland, Ukraine has something worth having:- 1. Good food growing area; 2. Valuable scarce minerals; 3. An educated workforce that has a better record of successful industrial innovation than Russia; 4. A useful area as a buffer state. Something that the USSR/Russia has understood ever since they learnt it the had way in WW2 is that a state should endevour to create a situation where if you have etc fight a war, the fighting occurs in tehe buffer state and not your own territory. It is something that the USA understood too. - it suited both the USA and the USSR that their military posturing & troop deplyment happend in Europe with a clear dividing line between buffer states. Neither of the two could attack the other with bombers without first flying over a buffer state, where they could be shot down.

@yanikashanty7436 You must be kin to Trump with his ridiculous claim that the war is Ukraine's fault. NATO not directed at Russia? That is the whole reason for NATO. Words mean nothing. Actions do. Of course Ukraine is being as aggressive as it can - Donbas is their territory and they are fighting back in a war that Russia started by invading Ukraine. No different to you defending your home against some punk who broke in to steal off you. Perhaps you would think that the punk is in the right. You appear to be ignorant about Cuba. The USSR set up a missile base on Cuba because the US set up a missile base in Turkey, right on the border with the USSR. After some diplomatic squawking, the USRR said if you Americans remove your missiles on our border, we will remove our missiles from Cuba - and it was done. The Cuba missile thing confirms what I said - that both the USSR/Russi and the USA each need buffer states to guard against bomber aircraft, and as places where if push comes to shove, there is somewhere for fighting to occur without risk to own territory.
