But that fact also makes owning a Lada in the West pointless - because you can have a genuine Fiat, built with better quality. A dealer network for Lada was set up in Australia in the 1970's, taking advantage of Fiat deciding to withdraw from the market. They even boasted that the cars were really Fiats. The Lada dealers didn't last long, and the Soviets had made minor changes, always for the worst.
