I once took a similar mesh approach to solving the problem of electric current from a faulty transmission line going to earth via multiple geological layers, each having a different electrical conductivity. Because the company I worked for forced me to use an ordinary PC running Windows NT and Microsoft Excel, it took several weeks to converge on a solution. And an ordinary PC running Windows was millions of times more powerful than a 1940's mechanical desk calculator. The problem described in this video is more complex because it is a non-linear system. It is anything but simple.
