  1. How you tie your tie matters - especially if like me you have a large neck. A tie that looks part undone or non-symmetrical ruins the whole idea of wearing a tie. There are different sorts of knots - pick one that works for you. Uniforms with ties have other benefits. I get a different level of respect and service in shops wearing my work uniform than I do wearing my weekend clothes.
