Being an electrical power generation engineer used to mission critical systems where there are not 6 or 10 circuit breakers as in a house, but dozens of circuit breakers feeding lots of complex systems, I am surprised that this incident is even possible. I am surprised because in other industries they have a system whereby the popping of ANY circuit breaker causes a lamp to light (and sometimes a buzzer to sound). So the operators know immediately that a breaker has popped - all the have to do is find which one it is. It is common to have 2 or 3 lights, identified as Urgent, Non-Urgent, or the like. Why the heck don't they have this in airliners? Such a system is dirt cheap to implement, with entirely negligible weight penalty and a cost of 10 cents or so per breaker.
