  1. The host has a problematic definition of "secular." Secularity is not a "subtractive" process (society minus religion = secular). But rather, an additive process (adding exclusive humanism as a viable and popular worldview in a mostly religious society). Check out Charles Taylor's "A Secular Age." It will help you get over all this hand-wringing about the so-called "secularizing" of society.
