@Marcie-w1u Well said, thanks. I'm a retired nurse and daughter of parents who have dementia. I know how hard it is to care for the elderly and I'd never condemn anyone for not wanting to take it on. In fact I'm getting very irritated by some people who have martyr/saviour complexes and expect everyone else to be the same. There's no merit in destroying your own health and life to be a carer. Yes you can walk away, because if you become ill yourself, you'd have no choice but to do that anyway. I have a chronic health condition, and I realised early on that I wouldn't have the strength to care for either one or both of my parents. They went to stay in a care home and are very well looked after. My parents had a fantastic life with no caring responsibilities for elderly relatives .
