While I agree that ideally, all pupils should have the same opportunities, not having the most up to date accommodation and environment shouldn't be an excuse for poor standards. The excellent generation that built post war Britain, had to contend during WW2, with disrupted, often part time education, in makeshift classrooms. Yet they had high levels of literacy, numeracy and general education.
