  3. It is worse now, because there is way less in benefits. In areas where there are no laundries kids turn up in dirty clothes to school. I live in a rural market town and my friend commented to me that her son came home in the wrong school jumper, so I asked if it happened to be my son's jumper and she said she knew it wasn't my son's jumper because it was filthy. There was a child that literally used to get his jumpers and polo shirts cleaned by swapping his clothes with other children's on the sly when it was PE day.

  4.  @imgreen2563  If people do not have enough money to keep themselves clean then it becomes a public health matter. Thankfully, my own child has never caught lice, but I know a number of kids that have and the problem just goes round and round the school, same with impetigo, which my son has contracted from other kids at school. You hear of kids having UTIs, scabies and balanitis and girls suffering from toxic shock syndrome because they are trying not to use too many tampons, this winds up costing the NHS more than simply ensuring people have the means to keep themselves clean in the first place.

  7.  @globalcitizen1138  But we do not know the truth either. There are paedophiles out there that would use the disguise of doing good for others as a cover, but so too are there poor people who might resort to fabricating such allegations as a form of blackmail.

  9. Because they buy the cheapest filling foods, which is generally potatoes, oil, bread and dripping and live on toast and dripping for breakfast and cook up chips for other meals, you just keep reusing the oil, makes it cheap.

  12. I have always said that poor countries are poor because of the way that they are run by their own governments and even so called rich countries have homeless people, we should all sort out the poor of our own countries first.
