Horrible though what she did is, it sounds like she lived under unbearable pressure from her parents. She had a considerable level of extra curricula activities including playing the flute and the piano and high level figure skating and was expected to get high grades too. She just never had a hope in hell's chance of meeting her parents' overly high expectations and their love was very conditional on that. This just seems like someone that has had enough, she would have been better off just doing a disappearing act and I can not imagine that she copes too well in prison.
