I am not a prepper. But I live in the UK and when corona hit Italy, I knew that we would not be far behind, so I got facemasks and gloves and stocked up a few of weeks worth of food and seeds to grow food. I used to shop for my neighbour and I told her that fairly soon I would not be able to go into the city where I had been shopping, she likes Waitrose food, so she pretty much threw a fit and we have not spoken since.
The thing is, the only thing that I said that have not come to be is that the pandemic has not been as bad as I expected. I said that it could be bad enough to need mass graves, that hasn't happened. That bin collections could be affected, not happened. But other things that I have said have happened. There has been disruption to the postal services, some food production has been affected, NHS has come close to being overwhelmed, school has had to be suspended and it is hitting the economy.
The stupid thing is that my neighbour's grand daughter is a medical doctor, you would have thought that she would have been able to figure the pattern that a pandemic would be likely to take. Yet she still goes talking to people up close and personal without a mask. Just the other day, I was cleaning up my car and a volunteer driver went around to remind her of her appointment for her jab, happily stood at the door no mask, driver tells her that she will need to wear a mask in his car, her response:- 'Do I have to?'
