  1. Disgusting, the family have paid for a seat and if the airline needs that seat then they should be COMPENSATING someone to leave the flight. If they have overbooked then if they have a seat in first class that is vacant it makes sense to bump one person up to first class, but if there is no first class seat then they should be looking for people willing to be bumped in exchange for a free return flight of equivalent value.
