@irelandscall193 I'm not a geographer. I don't get pedantic about geographical terms. So it's one man's meat, another man's poison. For the purpose of the euro vision song contest, Israel is European. And so is Australia. The UK is the United kingdom of GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland. But i don't go around calling myself "great British" though from now on I may do that. I'm British. Because I'm from the British Isles. If you want to get all hot under the collar because you don't like the idea that ireland is part of the British Isles then all I can say is, you're a twit. If you don't want to be associated with GREAT Britain, then just think of yourself as Irish, which happens to be part of the BRITISH ISLES.

@macker33 let me educate you. The REASON you are carrying on like that is .... SOUR GRAPES. Nothing else. Absolutely NOTHING. Whatever the conventions and "sensitivities" are, it's piffle. Ireland IS part of the BRITISH ISLES and no matter how much masturbatory machination geographlists do or how much politicking, it doesn't change that. Ireland is part of the BRITISH ISLES. You can protest all you like that that "does not make Ireland British" but like the guy who had "not dead, just sleeping" on his epitaph, you're not fooling anyone but yourself. I know that convention avoids naming Ireland as "British" because of political sensibilities, but I'm not INTERESTED IN political sensibilities. AT ALL. I'm English and like I said, my mother's family hail from Ireland. So I have no QUALMS about laying claim on being both BRITISH and Irish heritage. You're the one with the problem. If it sticks in your craw, that's your hassle, don't project it on me.
