  4. Invalid Username thanks for that link That use of a police force is disgraceful. The came WITH riot shields and arms. This is happening inside the EU? Disgraceful. And the Spanish government could simply have ignored the ballot and said it's not valid. WHY doesn't Spain allow the Catalans to have a peaceful referendum ? The UK offered the Scots an independence referendum and allowed it to proceed. If the police were involved it was only as PEACEKEEPERS. This is very infuriating....

  5. Big mac explain what you mean? The Scottish have every right to choose how they want to be governed in the UK. They had a referendum and voted to remain in the UK. Why can't the Catalans make their own choice? What's the problem? Are you worried they might choose to secede in a plebescite? Suppose they do? Why would Spain want to compel them to remain and frustrate them? It will turn into resentment. ... The EU apparently are now backing Madrid. So they've now taken sides in this situation.... I think the EU are heading for some very choppy waters.

  8. Pboy 98 Ok So what you need to SETTLE this issue is a free and fair referendum run with agreed conditions. The independence people will believe they have no voice. The only poll that counts is a real one.

  9. Obviously is the rest of Spain voted Catalonia would have no chance at independence. Only Scottish residents has right to vote for Scottish independence. You're trying to stack the deck. If the UK had allowed the rest of the EU to vote on brexit there wouldn't be a chance in hell of the UK leaving. ...

  10. Pboy 98 but Spain was not allowing a well run referendum. Just armed and violent surpression of people who want to make their view known. It's only going to make the resentment worse. The UK had decades of IRA for similar response ....
