Driving through a red light seems crazy to me, and not a win at all. People around the corner have no indication if a car is going to drive round or not. You wouldn't know when to cross the road if you were a pedestrian.

If you don't own a car you are looked down on like a second class citizen. I've heard stories of employees being moaned at by their bosses, for using public transport to get to work. Crazy.

Same in UK. Red means STOP.

Plus their version of English. I'm English and many of their words/spellings confuse me. So a non English speaker would have no chance.

So how do you know when it's safe to cross the road, if people in cars are turning right on red lights?

When I was a kid I used to cycle to school everyday. Being in England it was often raining and a bit cold. Americans don't want to cycle anywhere and just make up excuses. They love cars too much.

Practically everyone in the US is an immigrant 😬 Mostly Europeans.

I Don't think they have any. EVERYONE is in a car 🙄 My cousin used to live in Florida, and used to walk the 10 minutes to work. Everyone thought he was crazy, and used to actually laugh at him about it. They're car crazy out there. His stepsons mum used to drive him to school every single day and it was practically next door.

Paying first for fuel seems really strange. One question, which may sound stupid to Americans, but how do they, and you, know how much you need?

But everyone can understand them, no matter which language you speak. Over there if you don't speak their version of English, you won't understand any of them.
