Yes, I do! But it's limited. My physical choices are limited, in that my material life is limited. As to my belief and mental life: it is VERY self-willed! Always has been, since childhood. But then there is the argument, that personality is inborn. But that's no trouble for a neopagan, as we believe in "natures"! 🙂

But then if people thought harder about subjects and about choices, they would quite often make some different ones!

@NickMirro You wouldn't be able to send anyone to prison then: so I don't see that happening!
1
@NickMirro BECAUSE (I can't believe you don't know this!) Our entire legal system is predicated (and always had been) on the concept that adult human beings have the freedom to choose their actions, therefore are responsible for them! 😏 No responsibility, no punishment.
1
I think they would anyway!
1
@NickMirro But that's not what our legal system is predicated upon. And it smacks of "Pre-Crime" anyway!

@Simkets But isn't doing THAT free will? And then you have to decide to ACT on the new Information, not deny it or be a lazy sod about it. 😏
1
@DaimonTrilogy This is true!
1
@Simkets Bah. You need to DECIDE to act on something. Anyone who is into procrastination will know this!
1
@Simkets Should I say "same here"?? 😏😏 Maybe this video, instead of the abstract view of some physicist waffling on about "free will vs. determinism", should have been about the more practical and INTERESTING topic, of practical decision making and willpower. I was saying, that any procrastinator will know, that you have to decide to, and make yourself, act!!
1
@Simkets Same here! 😏

@Simkets OK. WHO or WHAT determined it? (That's what these stupid "physics" channels never get into. They're so wrapped up in "theory" too. Never anything practical or based on real life! 😏 I think a psychology channel with the subject of how humans MAKE decisions and what can alter or improve decision-making, would be much more interesting! Than this dogmatic waffle!)

@aleksandar7393 Wonder why all legal systems insist we DO have a choice, then? 😏
1
@tr4gik11 Yes. But I think that humans, starting ideally with kids at school, should be taught thinking skills! Including critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Some kids (such as myself) are basically born with them: a critical personality combined with creative thinking. I have noticed however (especially on true crime videos!) how many younger (and older) people have TERRIBLE decision-making skills! AND how many people (especially the young, obviously) have SO little ability to resist peer pressure.. SO: that is obviously an area they need help in! (As is forming verbal counter-arguments.) Personally I am also not a little fascinated by the "lateral thinking" notions of Edward de Bono, which seems to be all about coming up with solutions NO-ONE would have thought of! 🙂(He's got a book called Teach Your Child To Think, too!)
1
@aleksandar7393 Yes, what if? 😏 (But if a thing is not literally true, it is peculiar to think the legal system insists on it.)
1
@Simkets "You don't care": ergo you shouldn't be engaging in debate on public forums.

Chaos is NOT bloody deterministic! It is random. Looks like Sabine hasn't read a book on chaos theory either... 😏
1
@quinn5193 Mmm.. Well I think that those non-deterministic elements of the universe are the cracks that let the light - and the freedom - in! And no book on chaos theory I've ever read implies determinism! But thank you for your reply! 🙂👍
