You should read that autobiographical essay he wrote, largely about his time as a "scholarship boy" at a private boarding school; how he hated it; the snobbery and how the headmistress (or headmaster's wife, I forget which) discriminated against the poorer boys and fawned all over the rich ones! I forget what the title is, but you can definitely find it free online. Have a Google.
