Fascinating stuff!! Only I hope that Mr Dan Gibson does not travel too often to Saudi Arabia; as I am sure their government must hate this research, as they use Mecca as their justification to be like the "top" of the Islamic world. 😏 Mind you, with the "non-Western" idea of "newer being better" - WE do think that a lot of the time too, don't we? Especially in science and technology. We are always revising and upgrading things. Even in history and other disciplines the idea of "a new, revised, extended IMPROVED edition" is certainly no oddity!.😏😏🙂 What I want to know though - is where did Islam get the idea of a black (meteoric) stone as being sacred, then?? Since that wasn't from Petra - or was it??? Anyway: no-one can ask the modern-day Muslims to make Petra once again the centre of their religion: it's a ruin! It would be like asking the C of E to forsake St Paul's for Stonehenge! 😏
