  1. They still have electrically heated fabrics today - you see them in every catalogue, my dears!! 🙂 Electric blankets, throws,and even clothing. The difference is, that nowadays such things run off safe stepper-downers, batteries, and now, of course, USB connections! 🙂👍 So - now you've got me interested though - are there any statistics, for house fires caused by electricity, prior to WWI?

Nevertheless, Edwardians used electricity quite happily - and afaik, largely safely - for home lighting - asI know very well from novels like The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, written by a man IN THE BUILDING TRADE!! 🙂 And you can't gas yourself to death with it like you can with town gas. As for safe electricity - that argument was thrashed out between Edison and Tesla (I think) in the United States, in the war between alternating and direct current.
