  2. The kaolin (China clay) industry in Cornwall, didn't do that at all! I live down the road from St Austell and St Dennis. All that has "left behind" are big quarries and "spoil heaps" which are being reclaimed by nature, reclaimed for building land, and known as the Cornish Alps. There's hiking videos on YouTube all round there. And if they go for the lithium, it's there they'll start - so it's mining a brownfield, not a greenfield site!

  8. @aguycalledconor  Such an ESSENTIAL one? (And think of the OTHER rare earth minerals there are in Cornwall and in Devon, that so far people have been jabbering about, but doing f all to extract! Tin is often found with or near deposits of copper, cobalt, indium, zinc, tungsten, and silver. Cornwall has the lot. As well as tin. There's been TALK of re-opening South Crofty mine for years - f'n DO it, I say!)
