Well: I suppose that you could call a skin condition like hypertrichosis a "curse", couldn't you?? 🤔 And IF someone had had a cure, THEN the curse could have been broken! 🙂

The point everyone seems to be missing here, is that in pre-modern Europe, IF YOU WERE BAPTISED CHRISTIAN, you most definitely did count as human! 🙂 But I think that here, their status was more like that of black slaves? Some of whom were taken to live at courts and wore nice clothes. But if they were allowed to retire to a village, maybe their status was better: as I doubt slaves were allowed to retire. That thing about there being no church record of his death or last sacrament is obviously an error. As I've said, if you were baptised, you were Christian: so I don't see how priests could refuse. 🙂 Or maybe they died somewhere else. Honestly, I don't relate this to the Beauty and the Beast fairytale though: as the Beast in that was a Prince in his own right!
