@jondarbyshire-s7k Yeah. 🙁
1
@eliakimjosephsophia4542 Oh yes: that was ANOTHER stupid Sunak policy, wasn't it?? I'm sure all the 18 year old are going to vote him out.. Some apprenticeships start at 16, though. And as I very well know down here in Cornwall, lots of people leave actual school at 16 to go on to tertiary education: vocational education at a local technical college. I can't see how Sunak could have stopped that...
1
Me too! 😮😢
1
@BlockedAtheist-jq5ws No, why don't you tell us, genuis?? (Find some POC, immigrants or "wokerati" to blame. You know you want to! 😂)
1
That is true! I'd say ita worth a sub, if you can afford it.. I very much doubt it can still be called a Communist newspaper though..
1
He is, too! #StarmerOut
1
What "truth"? Insane racist rubbish, you mean?
1
🙄
1
She IS insane! Criminal psychopath.
1
@blacklisted4885 Tell me then: Who "dreams" about sending people to the middle of nowhere?? Of rejecting and harming people? I can't see how even your conventional Tory could react positively to such obvious insanity and perversion...
1
@mda5003 Bull. Rwanda is never going to take "Unlimited numbers". And why should they? They are an unstable *rse end of nowhere.
1
@Purple_flower09 All true! 💯 Tories are complete liars about immigration.
1
@koalaeinstein-y7r Well... Neither really, was dissing a fellow performer, Andrew Sachs (and his granddaughter.) But Jonathan Ross, who should have definitely known better, aided and abetted him in that, and nobody is on his case now. 😏 Anyway. That was in the days before Russell Brand combatted all his addictions, and changed his life.
1
There we are then! 🙂
1
@freeforester1717 😏
1
And he wouldn't want to be... Or OBEd, or any some such...
1
That's a good idea! 👍
1
Good. It'll split the monolithic Tory vote, in a way that UKIP never did!
1
@davidmcintyre8145 Hmm. So you think we are lacking enough "centrist Tories". Weren't they the ones who gave TB a landslide though?
1
@davidmcintyre8145 Right on! 👍 (Not sure about "elements from left and right", however: as I don't think that such coalitions can ever coexist, let alone succeed: their philosophies are diametrically opposed. Jimmy Dore might think that, but I don't! 🙂 Maybe more "elements from left and centre"? Only they'd have to be GENUINE centrists, not neoliberals! Neoliberals took over all the powerful posts in the Labour Party: and we see what THAT led to! 😏)

💯💯👍
1
Nonsense. She is an excellent crime/detective writer. The Cormoran Strike series being all the proof you need.
1
@cupguin How do you even know she READ Neil flippin' Gaiman?? It's not like she's the right age to be his fangirl!
1
@cupguin No. I'm saying that someone the right AGE to be a Gaiman fangirl, would be much more LIKELY, to be aware of his work: particularly all the obscure stuff.
1
@cupguin 🥱🥱🥱 You talk as if Rowling was LOOKING to plagiarise. This is not how authors work. They get inspirations and images come into their heads. Why don't you read a little about how C S Lewis got his inspirations? Or Roald Dahl?
1
@econundrum1977 But surely you were implying this of Ms Rowling? Else, why the fuss?? 🙂🙂
1
ANYWAY: I think I was actually replying to @cupguin, the last time?
1
Jealous little nobodies, I would say! 🙂
1
@benedictcowell6547 That is a great analysis of the media! 🙂👍 (And you obviously had some great experiences!)
1
Mind you. My one caveat is that I don't think the English are nearly as "stoic" or "stiff-upper-lipped" as you claim. Isn't that 1) a pretty outdated view of the Engiish and 2) a very upper-class one? Which Diana, as the "people's princess" set out to smash, anyway. So..
1
@benedictcowell6547 OK! Fine! 🙂👍 (But all the famous authors you have cited were definitely upper-middle-class. A well-known author from a more humble background, Charles Dickens (father s bankrupt, himself forced to be a child worker) tends to be a lot more emotional, some have even called him sentimental.)
1
@benedictcowell6547 Good for you! I was only pointing out, that an author such as Jane Austen was demonstrably upper-middle-class, not that her books were only for those of that class! (Though that is who they would have initially been read by.)
1
How so?
1
@OanKnight 💯👍
1
@kayod8076 💯
1
@seang2700 That so?
1
Is it really?? What about something that some authors of a certain age were complaining about a few years ago - namely that their kids only seem to have to learn PARTS of books or novels at school, not the entire thing?? Is that true?? What about that then?? Seems a bit "prechewed" to me! What about the idea that kids are more illiterate and/or innumerate now, than they were decades ago?
1
@tony_w839 Don't really have "evidence", as they're not my claims! They are just something I remember people with access to the MSM, including a celebrity author or two, saying a few years back.
1
@tony_w839 And yet there are a lot of people saying that literacy standards have gone down.. Tories haven't exactly invested in education.
1
@tony_w839 I am middle-aged: but you are of a considerably older generation than I! 🙂 Question: WHICH half to believe, though? 🙂
1
@byrnemeister2008 Ah well, secondary moderns... I think that's why they got rid of them, wasn't it? The Labour governments, and went on to comprehensives. It was probably true that secondary moderns didn't provide enough opportunities for working class children who didn't pass the 11 plus.
1
Well done getting the physics degree though! Despite your precarious start! 🙂👍
1
But: "The girls' school across the road had a creche in the 1970s"... 😮
1
No: I understood that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were supposed to be released, and the whole process would take place overv4 months. Hence Hamas agreed. Israel are the naysayers now..
1
@peterwillson1355 Israel has a ton of its own "hostages"! Palestinian prisoners were part of this peace deal. Look it up, dummy!
1
Does he now?
1
I think he is a gigantic PRAT: and if the Labour Party had any sense, they would throw him out on his arse, and find a way to make Andy Burnham leader!)
1
@thegrandmuftiofwakanda Exactly!!
1
Yeah. MOST of the coverage on this is pretty clueless! 😏
1
Only trying to send a few refugees to Rwanda... 😏
