ย @classicraceruk1337ย Rubbish!! I'll tell you what has changed. The mindset of the youth. Most people under 30, 35 even. (I have looked into this whole subject!) Thatcher successfully tapped into the individualism of the post war period, that was gaining traction in Britain. The working class and the lower middle class were doing much better since all the reforms, that had been ushered in post war, since the Bevan report etc. They were becoming much more middle class and aspirational. It was the "baby boomer" thing, as it came to be called in the US. * The ones in the UK no longer wanted to be trapped in the "flat cap" stereotype/lifestyle. They had their eyes on better things! *Thatcher was clever because she saw/intuited this. Mix all that with a bit of rubbish about the "go-getter" mentality; talk about bad unions and inflation, and she had several generations within her grasp.
Well all that is no more. The go-getter society is dead; the fat cats and landlords have eaten up all the wealth, and the C1s, C2s and C3s (yes, I know market research terms!) are no longer upwardly mobile.
Hence their disillusionment with Blairism, Thatcherism's intellectual heir.
Enter socialism. ๐

And yet, if you accept Party discipline...
It's a pity "The Lobby" could never be shut down nor sated. It's an even bigger pity, I do agree, that the Labour Lett agreed to listen to them in the first place. IT WAS a bit, as if Obama's Democratic campaign, had listened to all the crazy racists claiming that he had no American citizenship, was a Kenyan agent, & his wife was a monkey. ๐๐ But the US Democrats have a slick machine (unlike UK Labour) which tends to brush off abuse like that. ๐
Even they, however, fear the Israel lobby. Who even got at Bernie Sanders, who is Jewish! You can't just "get away" with calling them conspiracy theorists, as you can with MAGA. Pity. ,๐

Well,.I think that this is wonderful news, actually, George and Professor Curtice!! ๐๐ Not that Keir Starmer may yet become PM, because he is useless: but the news that there is likely to be a hung Parliament!! Hung Parliaments are excellent, for one thing because they prevent the Tories from doing too much harm! ๐
And you say that this time, the Tories have no friends in Parliament , including the DUP! Double good!! ๐๐
So it would be a case of Labour (I think that Starmer IS weak, though: can't you see what a drip he is, Professor Curtice? ๐ Unprincipled, but not strong!) going into a coalition with either the Lib Dems or the SNP. (WHY not both??)
And the "price" of which, certainly with the former (hopefully with the latter!) would be electoral reform and Proportional Representation??
MARVELLOUS!! ๐๐ THEN we will finally have a fairer and more representative electoral system than FPTP!! AND the Tory stranglehold over our electoral system and parliament will be ended!! No more safe Tory shires!! ๐๐๐๐๐๐ (And it will render the "Red Wall" less relevant as well.)
Sounds good to me!! This is actually great news!! ๐๐๐
"Coalition of chaos"? Coalition of good, more likely!
