  1. Hmm, no: I don't think Rafiq is quite right there: "1970" had nothing to do with it, unless he meant 1917! The Windsor name came into being at the time of the first World War, because of widespread anti-German sentiment, obviously. The House of Hanover (originally) became our Protestant monarchs in the 18th century: that's where we got all those Georges! 🙂 They were indeed invited to become our kings, because all the rest were Roman Catholics, which the rest of the British elite did not want: and Queen Anne kept having miscarriages and died without issue: so that means that there was no direct Stuart line. But certainly: Blair is a war criminal: and I wouldn't mind a Queen Anne! Mainly because she is the eldest Royal child, as I've said before: and succession should go to the eldest, male or female. 🙂
