But when someone dies - or receives a severe injury - their consciousness is "knocked out" of their body, and they view it from above. In many cases they can see what doctors are doing to their bodies, or where other people have landed up, in a road accident. These things have all been reported, by people who have "come back". But there is also a "silver cord" (as it is called) attaching the disembodied consciousness to the body - and once that is broken, you're never coming back.
