BUT if you are woking on to a simple home network or a single device - then Obsidian is great - as it is ALL local files. Things that the core of the Obsidian app doesn't do or does in a limited way - can be expanded with extensions and plug-ins. Plenty of vid support from users - both 'here' YouTube and via the support/community forums. Come, come join the dark side. : ))))))

  72. @TIK, so what does the hours' tracker look like - and whilst time spent planning and then organising (acquiring the material, etc.) is "work" and then the "Deep" work run under the timer is also work. Be it reading, notes or analysis and then the vid plus editing, etc. Do you track them with sub-totals to improve the planning estimates for future projects? Especially like the read a chapter, make notes... ... but do you "high light" as you go and then once your notes are done after the chapter, do you then check the high lights against the notes - not really a Prod Tip - but a detailed tactic for capturing the stuff you need in one sweep of the material? Keep up the good work, back to history, soon I hope : ))))

  91. Oh, oh, temperature. I do measure it frequently, from just south of the Arctic circle to the Equator (Finland to Singapour). And recently most commonly in the Middle East. And yes - the "weather" report temperatures are 'shaded' within a louvred box called a "screen" these are the white boxes - you often see. However, anecdotally, in a July afternoon around 25N I went from inside surface temperatures of 23C to 35C and 42C in the shade - but also 105C surface temperature on the black block pavers in the full unshaded local road. A few years later on a different site - but not far away we were recording 53C in August. Love it - keep up the good work. Illegitimi non carborundum.

Excellent idea... on a wider point, a few vids back you mentioned almost in passing the cash bribes given out by Hitler, so rather than one or a pair of 'generals' more on this aspect, and maybe not just of general briber (no joke/pun intended, etc.) that was a basic day-to-day method of political control by the Nazis. Kołakowski aside, I was thinking of the sub-topics of say Climate collapse, into the history of the political of denial, the science of the various cycles involved, the feedbacks and there movements 'off' their natural cycles, the interdependace of food security, etc., etc. Going from one book - say "Climate Change: A Very Short Introduction" by Mark Maslin, to working through the works of Raworth, Hickle, Hansen, Lipsky, Hayhoe, Cook, Oreskes & Conway. A cracking start, to my fav. battle with the Ardennes/Battle of the Bulge - noting both are "para" lead, off that. Anti-yank is fine, they often deserved it... ... just limiting it to say films of WWII then The Great Escape and U-571 come immediately to mind. [ducks : ))) ] At that point of the war, surely, a 1,000 tanks could have been bombed to scrap and there should have been signals analysis or even ULTRA level information for this quantity... ... seems to be too dodgy not to be called into question. The "film" version of some panzers in the woodland edge never adds to a 1,000 tanks, 1,000 troops yes and clearly not going to be militia either... ... And the well done with the clearance of the fog of war paperwork. : ))))) ... ... and nice "education" of snowflakes. IRCC from my reading about the last year of my senior school (high/college)... so +40 years of other reading might have 'fogged' the memory.
