Since 1939 Jewish people have been dealing with a lot of generational trauma. WW2 is not over for them. I think that hyper vigilance is probably widespread. It was striking to hear the Palestinians described as, "human animals" after their attack on the music festival (10/7). It was an atrocity and a provocation for sure. And Israel seems to be entering a period of threat and defence and attack. Embattled for sure. And wanting vengeance. But wrong has been done to both sides in the past and the past can't be changed. Many compassionate people see the need for true reconciliation, but the ptb want war.
