Charles Spencer did not refuse to let her rent a weekend cottage at Althorp. he offered her other houses because the first one she chose was considered a security risk by the police. She refused them all and dropped the idea - I dont think she really wanted a house there for herself it was to giv e the boys somehwere to go at weekends.
