@margarethmichelina5146 She wasn't rebellious at all. She could have given up he place in the succession to marry Peter Townsend but she wouldn't do that. And I doubt if she had much sympathy with Diana. She was barely on speaking terms with her when they were neighbours at KP

Times have changed. Years ago a new royal bride usually got a year or 2 off being very much admired. now the press in many countries is pretty harsh to new royal girlfriends and brides. They get a baptism of fire. Diana was popular.. Meghan and kate both got rough rides. Kate has quietly stuck it out and got on with her married life.. Megh has left
7
@trishaabass9815 And there is a phone call confirming Diana's having to say the least an intimate chat with a male friend... where she badmouths the RF.. and is clearly at least flirting with the man
5
@BiG-JuPO1O1 The media criticized Diana very little. Until the last year or 2 she was very popular... But Meghan soon lost any goodwill with the Press and its not likely to stop now. but there's a very simple solution and Diana was told also to do it.. DONT READ THE PAPERS. Meg knows that she wont get any good press in the British tabloids, and she's now living in the US. just ignore them.
5
Diana's death was investigated very thorougly, iwht a long and detailed inquest. It wasn't quickly declared an accident at all.
3
@darren_myatt Divorce isn't a cure all. It involves children being hurt by their parents leaving, it doesn't stop fights over the kids and custody, and there are issues with step parents.. And it doesn't mean that you'll be happy second time around...A lot of second marriages break up...
3
@melanino Since Meghan's left the RF, I can't see that it matters if the British press still dislike her...What does she care? She has a rich doting husband, a manision in LA...
3
@maggiekarabel123 no, she wasnt. She was harrassed by the press, called Waity Katie, later photographed changing her clothes and half naked iwht long lenses.
3
@chichiro8625 where was she bullied? Was it when she had an expensive wedding at Windsor on the tax payers money? or got a nice house there? Did the queen bully her inviting her to her house for Christmas? Did the people who came to see her at engagements bully her?
2
@chichiro8625 yes the press didn't like Meghan - because Harry was a lot less friendly when she came along. but the whole coutnry hardly bullied her. The RF IMO were welcoming, the queen invited her for Christmas, even when fiancees weren't usually invited and according to Harry, she found the RF "the family she had never had".. so I hardly think she was bullied by the whoel country
2
Charles was not forbidden from being able to act in plays. He was involved in drama at college.. Obviously he could not be a full time actor but Im sure he never wanted to be. He was upset and annoyed about Diana's dancing because she blindsided him. the previous year she and He had done a skit in the show.. but this year, she had a secret act worked up iwth Wayne Sleep and didn't invovle him in it...
2
@elkpaz560 I'd hardly say that James HEwitt loved her much. we know litlte of her relationship wtih Barry Manakee but he was a married man and his feelings for her were problably more sympathy than love.
2
@jessicavictoriacarrillo7254 That's not true. They spent weekends at Highgrove when courting. THey were not chaperoned, I expect there were staff around but its not as if they were never alone
2
@Vixen743 I would have said that Diana was the worst choice ever. not Camilla.
2
@mermaidlilyrose possibly but Diana was no doubt advised to think very carefully over getting married. She was given a breathing space when Charles proposed, to go to Austrialia and see her mother, and think it over before she committed herself.
2
@Vixen743 yes he was well liked. and he could NOT easily step down from his place in the succession. Even when the problems of the Wales marriage were at the worst, the queen clearly did not see that as a solution...
2
@tigresscancook9476 If that was her ambition, she has worked it out very well. She and WIlliam waited a long time, to be sure that they were compatible and that Kate could handle being royal. She has had her babies, and is now taking up more royal work. IF the marriage were to break down, which I hope it wont, I think she would handle it as well as she could
2
@lexi-op5vk Gay men liked her
2
Nonsense. Charles did hug the children, he just wasn't seen doing it as much in public as Di was
2
@lemsip207 she probably went home as a single girl because all her freinds went home. She grew increasingly fed up with country life, did not like gardening or riding or any country sports, and got furious wiht charles for wanting to spend his weekneds in the country
2
@chichiro8625 so why did she marry into it, and grin away on royal engagements?
1
@chichiro8625 So are we to assume that Kate is destroyed? Or Sophie?
1
@chichiro8625 Dont really know what you mean by that
1
@chichiro8625 That was not the impression i got from Harry's interviews. He claimed that someone in the RF made a racist remark about the baby, and would not say who, except that it wasn't Philip or the queen. He said that his father refused to take his calls and that the way he was raised was painful, so that rather makes you wonder which is the truth, did the family welcome her or were they horrible to her. H is like his mother in that he often contradicts himself
1
@DinameneVelho How waould he be advised to drop it? Its obviously not a career path for him, but it wasn't for Diana either. He was probalby as Wayne Sleep suggests annoyed that instead of doing some kind of funny act with him, she had prepared this act with Sleep, wihtout telling him
1
@Jill_of_trades No, she didnt. That is for professional stars of screen and stage. Charles was not forbidden form acting at Cambridge.
1
@kanamenoname210 how was Diana kept as a caged bird? She had her own friends, she had her own life and lovers and Charles turned a blind eye to them. He would rather have had a divorce, I think but he accepted that at the time of hte later 80s it wansn't possilbe and he let Diana lead her own life....
1
I dont think that there has been a new bio of Diana out in 20 years.. Im not saying she's forgotten or disliked but overall, she's not adored as she was years ago
1
@nicolearayaa and it is Diana's story, with her take on events. It isn't anything like 100% true as even her sympathetic biographers admit
1
for a small boy like Charles, seeing his mother after a long absence can be daunting. Some kids are upset by the long absence and act up, so the queen might have been trying to keep things low keey in public...
1
@aiwekano8593 well Haarry was allowed to marry Meghan, who was divorced, older than the average royal bride, had a very different life expereince and was American.. She was welcomed into the family and was out in a year
1
@NoOne-wn9ju Did Diana find that emoting all the time caused her to be happier
1
@lorrainehughes-smith6447 because Camilla didn't want to marry Charles....
1
@Cyssane possbily because they seem to want to show Diana as teh innocent angel victim of the RF. Her friendship with Fergie - giggling, poking people with brollies, plotting to leave their husbands, then having a big quarrel might not look so good.,
1
@ayshazaheen3402 how do you know he was unkind to Diana when Harry was born.
1
@CocoaPuff01 nonsense, thy were going out for over 6 months.
1
@RaquelS-ru6rb If Charles had insisted on marrying Camilla back in the 1970s before her marraige or later i n the 80s after she was married, he would have had a long haul to get permission from the queen. when he married her in 2005. a lot had changed and his realtionship with her was well known...
1
@RaquelS-ru6rb Yes Im sorry, that first post is confusing but I think the poster meant that if Charles had insisted on marrying Camilla, back years ago... he would have had to step aside.. Of course by the time he did marry her, things had changed and it was no longer considered impossible for him to marry a non virgin or a divorced woman
1
@ineedabadbleep1557 No Princesses are not out of the succession.. but back then they came after sons in the line. So if Charles HAD left the succession the next heir would be his brother Andrew.
1
@miraculouscrazy924 She didn't do so. She had nothing to do with it.... the children lived with their fahter and saw their mother regularly. Diana's grandmother had no power to bar her grandchildren from seeing their mother and they saw her regularly
1
@margaretalbrecht4650 Evidence of this?
1
@Kai555100 How? Camilla was married in the 80s wiht 2 young children. If Charles had divorced Diana to marry C, he would have been hated.....
1
@kanamenoname210 Have you never seen p;eople doing Hitler imitations?
1
@elkpaz560 Its true she did have lovers but none of the relationships worked out very well
1
@feyrol42 her father was not cold. He was selfish, and thoughtless and a b it of a painn but he was if anything a too indulgent father, and he was well liked by most people because he seemed interested in everyone
1
@margaretalbrecht4650 True they had been dating but it was a long disntace courtship. However, they didn't even last out a year or 2 in royal life...
1
@lovescoffee7189 what on earth do you mean? the Duke of Edinburgh was married to the queen. Who was he going ot marry? P Margo was allowed a compromise, in the 50s that she could marry Townsend if she gave up her place in the succession but she refused to go ahead. And times change. Anne remarried after a divorce, so did Charles because... it was many years later than Margo's time.
1
@Vixen743 Of course he did not. It was his duty to be king, his family would have been horrified if another abdication took place.
1
@Vixen743 She is hte queen. its up to her to decide if someone is suitable to marry into the RF
1
@Caterfree10 Diana was loved by the meida...
1
@Caterfree10 Those were foreign paparrazzi, and compared with a lot of royals Diana got almost completely positive press coverage until the last few months. the UK press were mainly on her side in the War of the Waleses, they only began to cool a bit when the whole thing had gone on so long, the public were getting fed up with both sides sniping. (Having said that of course its a business for them and they are looking for stories.. and Diana was foolish to think that because they gave her good coverage that they were totally on her side). But Meghan DIDNT get very warm coverage, the press didn't like her that much and liked her less as time went on.
1
@CarlDillynson Its pretty idiotic IMO. Charles met Diana at a rustic party given by some mutual friends and they chatted and he was clearly taken with her.
1
@koboldmaki6014 so strange that Harry's annoyed that his father wouldnt' go on paying for his security..
1
charles could have waited a bit longer to marry, and found someone a bit closer to his own age, but that would mean dropping Diana who was by then the darling of the papers. If Ch had waited mabye another 2 years, it woudl have been considered ok for him to marry a girl with a past, who had had a boyfriend or 2 that she was intimate with.. but who can say if that marriage would have worked out better?
1
not really
1
@itslonda4157 Diana didn't stay 19, she got older but she seemed to be wilder and more difficult as a mature woman, than as a girl. She could have made the best of her marraige.. or she could have quietly worked away at the queen asking for a divorce.. but instead she chose to make a big public fuss and attack the RF
1
Diana did not want to be off enjoying freedom with her firends. She wanted to be married and to marry Clharles. She was upset at Christmas that he had not proposed though later she would say that she'd only been out iwht him 13 times in all.. so she was hoping to marry a man that she had only had about 10 dates with, at the Christmas before they got engaged
1
@dammar117 I would hope that if she were 32 and he was not in love, she'd have the sensse not to marry him, or if she did marry him, she would make the best of it.
1
@dammar117 ?
1
@denverdubois5835 Charles is NOT a heavy drinker....
1
No they dont.
1
no, she didn't. Royal blood trumps aristocratic blood.
1
@One.Zero.One101 if you mean Wil Kate Harry and Meghan, I think that the "Fab four" have long since disappeared. Will and K are still popular, Harry and Meg have walked out and are not popular.
1
@lulyfernandess1 He didn't pick the ring. Diana picked it from a tray send by the royal jewellers
1
@lulyfernandess1 where was it made up? From the Crown? because Charles did not pick the ring
1
@bellegreycats490 Why woudl Kanga and Camilla make statements about Charles' dressing himelf or otherwise>?
1
@Vixen743 Charles does not want to step down and the queen certainly does not want it nor does Willliam who would be next in line.
1
@Vixen743 so if Chrarles murdered Diana because he wanted to marry Camilla soon, how come he waited 8 years to do so -. Dont know what you mean about hundreds of millions of dollars for men on horseback
1
@Vixen743 I really dont know where you get this idea. Do you think that in British law people cannot remarry after a divorce? I mean really?
1
rubbish. the queen worked to bring about a way for Marg to marry Townsend but M did not take up the option. Charles had been free to date for years, and find a wife, it was on him if he picked someone who was wrong for him
1
nope
1
@maggiekarabel123 not sure what you are saying.
1
@jessicavictoriacarrillo7254 Ignored??? ANne is very frequently at engagements with the queen these days, and they are clealry good friends.
1
@TheKeyser94 what are you on about
1
@melz6625 leaving to live in a welathy part of LA, where they have a luxurious mansion and deals with TV networks... is hardly living in the outside world.,
1
@kirag9509 That was whwat they wanted, to be able to make money, live in the USA nad make movies and supprort whatever causes they liked.. but to do some royal work and be seen as part of the working Royal family, and close to the queen. But they were told that they coudl not do that, that they had to choose between a royal life of duty and a money making life in LA..and unhestitatingly they opted for the money making
1
She did not froce anyone to marry. She did try to insist that when a marraige had been solemnised that the couple invovled should try to keep it going
1
@Jane155-x6d Well I dont know exactly waht the real performance was lke but in this version IMO it makes Diana look foolish.. It was menat to be HIS birthday present.. and instead of getting him a gold tie pin, she does a dance that makes HER the focus of attention.
