She told someone senior in hte Met that she didnt want POs and that she had been walking around londo by herself for some time and was quite safe. SHe was enttitled to them, but did not trust them.

That is always the case. the late queen had no say in what happened, but she chose to give it her blessing for Camilla to use the title queen consort. However, once Charles became queen, Cam was queen, and the only way that cold be changed would be by her using a lower title or being given by law a different title.
