@ronjon7942 guarantee the top speed probably cost the budget of a small-medium nation in maintenance costs for every flight hour. They would have been given a much lower speed to stick to in normal operations just to save $$$. And still it was too expensive to keep around vs less capable platforms.

@peterpanini96 likely more it was very expensive and satellites and drones improved to the point there were better options. The much slower U2 is still flying despite being proven slower than some missiles.
